CB HOYO

"Art should be fun, not just for the elite. I paint to make people smile and question everything at the same time."

Born in Havana in 1995, CB Hoyo is a self-taught contemporary artist renowned for his vibrant, satirical works that challenge traditional notions of art and authenticity. His multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, sculpture, and installation, often incorporating humor to critique art-world pretensions and societal norms

Hoyo's art is characterized by its playful nature and the use of recognizable art historical references, layered with hand-lettered provocations. By juxtaposing well-known iconography with cheeky, self-deprecating statements, he invites viewers to question the value and meaning of art in contemporary culture.

Since relocating to Europe, Hoyo has gained international acclaim, exhibiting in major cities such as New York, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, London, and Milan. His works have been featured in various exhibitions, including group shows in London and Miami during Art Basel.

Through his art, CB Hoyo continues to push boundaries, encouraging viewers to confront the complexities of the art world and society at large with a fresh, colourful, and fun perspective.
